Originating from Michigan, Irah Dhaseleer started their education at Kendall College of Art and Design with a focus in Natural Science Illustration. Currently they are pursuing a bachelors of arts in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration from Iowa State University. Mainly focused on Ornithological Illustration they hope to create works focused on natural conservation highlighting avian ecological impact.
They have completed internships at Iowa State University with the Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department as well as the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine. Here they created illustrative works for publication in research grants, textbooks and educational materials as well as hands on work with anatomical models and skeleton articulation.
Irah Dhaseleer often works in tandem with Dhaseleer Taxidermy located in Michigan. Here they complete work in museum quality taxidermy and habitat dioramas focused on public education. This experience has given them knowledge of animal anatomy, sculpting, figure armature, mold/casting and specimen handling.
